Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was extremely busy with not a lot of downtime.

This weeks topic is heartbreaking. There are over 60,000 children looking for lawyers to represent them in immigration court. Most of these children will be seeking asylum, as most were escaping violent and tragic situations. Not only is it crucial to find lawyers looking to volunteer their time but also to find attorneys willing to be trained in immigration law. These children are scared of what their futures hold and normally do not tell their full story to the attorney representing them. Even though the stakes are high, it’s the most rewarding work you can do. If you are interested in finding out more how you can help please check out Kids in Need of Defense.
What are your thoughts on this growing epidemic?
Happy Friday everyone. Last week I updated you all on my late night order of the iPhone 6 plus. Well I have many lucky stars to thank because this lady got herself an iPhone 6 plus on release day! To say the least I am very lucky that I did not have to wait hours outside in the freezing cold! I literally called all over the bay area and located one left at a Costco! Yes Costco! Who would have thought! After work I headed over and began the long process of getting a new phone. Yes we all know that its never a quick and easy process. By the time I headed home…I was exhausted but so excited! I absolutely love the phone. Its huge but not as over the top as I originally thought. The screen is crisp and clear and is quite an upgrade from my 5s. To anyone that was worried if the 6 plus is too large…I think it will be an adjustment…but worth it.
Did you pick up the new iPhone 6 or 6 plus?
I cannot believe how hard it was to find a rain jacket. Yes I realize it is only September but I needed a jacket and fast. Believe it or not it has already rained once here in San Francisco! I searched high and low and finally realized I had no other choice but to order online. I purchased the Columbia Arcadia II Jacket in Black. This jacket is guaranteed waterproof, breathable, and packable. It also has zippered hand pockets, drawcord adjustable hem, and an attached adjustable storm hood. I love the look and feel of this jacket. I cannot stand heavy winter coats, so this option is great for me. I am so glad that I picked this up. Also my ordering experience on Columbia.com was great. Really easy checkout and very fast shipping (and free). I will definitely be back for future orders.
Do you have a raincoat for fall/winter?
Every girl needs a good hairspray. Ladies am I right? I feel like I have tried quite a few on the market and I always seem to come back to Kenra Volume Superhold hairspray. I not only love the hold that it gives but I also love the slight scent it has. I also love the fact that this hairspray never gives you the rock hard look. It’s a smooth spray with great texture. Kenra has a no animal testing rule and is manufactured in the USA . Every year they release a pink bottle for Breast Cancer. This is a great way to not only donate to breast cancer research but to also grab a great hairspray. Overall this is a great product and a great company. I will definitely continue supporting them.
Have you tried the Kenra hairspray?
Welcome back. This week we are off to Alcatraz Island. Enjoy!
“Alcatraz Island is located in San Francisco Bay, 1.5 miles offshore from San Francisco. You take a ferry out to the island. It is a notorious prison now a museum with fascinating audio tour. It once housed some of America’s most dangerous felons. Among those who served time there was Al Capone and murderer Robert “Birdman of Alcatraz” Stroud. No inmate ever successfully escaped “The Rock” as the prison was nicknamed. The federal prison was built to house a criminal population too difficult or dangerous to be handled by other US penitentiaries. As you learn on the tour it also housed a number of rebellious American Indians. The prison guards and their families lived on the island. This maximum security prison was shut down in 1963 because of high operating expenses. It became a museum and open to the public in 1973. The tour of the island is beautiful and the prison itself eerie! Go check it out for yourselves. You won’t be sorry!”

Happy Monday. This past weekend I read a very interesting article Yahoo/Linkedin released about 4 Things Young Self-Made Millionaires Have in Common. As stated in the article, most people work their whole lives and never reach millionaire status. I agree with many of the characteristics these young people have. They have a sense of urgency, focus on leverage, maximizing their strengths, not trading for money, and best of all not caring what other people think. There is always something to be learned from these young millionaires and is definitely worth a shot in working these tips into your life. What do you think it takes to be successful?

I am a true lover of all things Apple. Honestly every tech device I own and use in my everyday life is Apple. So it is only fitting that I order the new iPhone right? Why not! I truly was leaning more towards the 6 (smaller of the two) but after talking with my sister in laws…they said Lauren… you either go big or go home. I said your right let’s do it. So there I was up at midnight trying to get my hands on the new iPhone. It took until 1:10am for me to successfully put in my order and obtain a confirmation number. Now after staying up to pre-order my iPhone…if you asked me would I do it again… probably not. Considering my shipping date isn’t until mid to late October…I am not impressed. I could have gained a few more hours of sleep and less stress and still received my phone around the same time as everyone else. But yes I am crazy and in love with all things Apple. I can’t wait for it to arrive and will definitely do a review of it once I receive it.

I am so excited to announce my rain boots and welly socks arrived!!! I couldn’t wait to try these beauties on. These boots were all I expected and more. They fit exactly as described and are hands down the most comfortable rain boots I have ever tried. They have amazing support and cushion and will definitely be comfortable for my walks to work. The welly socks didn’t do as well. The welly socks were nice and warm…but made the boot extremely tight and uncomfortable. I recommend using a nice thick sport sock to keep your feet nice and warm…without making the top of the boot too tight. I will be returning the welly socks…but definitely keeping the rain boots.
What are your favorite rain boots?
Anastasia keeps continuing to blow me away! Seriously! Her products are hands down the best I have tried. Yes…her products are pricey…but like all things…you get what you pay for. Her brow gel…amazing! This product does exactly what is says it does…its colorless, defines, and holds down your brows for the entire day. It is not a thick consistency, doesn’t clump up, and best of all…it doesn’t become that awful white crunchy material. This product can be purchased at Sephora and Nordstrom and comes in at $22.00.
Have you ever tried Anastasia brow gel?
Welcome back. This week we are off to St Lucia! Enjoy…
“St Lucia is a beautiful, lush, clean island in the Caribbean. My husband and I have been to many islands in the Caribbean. The people there were extremely friendly and I felt very safe. The population is mostly British. Unfortunately feeling safe is not true in many other islands in the Caribbean. Jamaica, although beautiful, has a high crime rate. I also felt uncomfortable in St Thomas, Virgin Islands. I almost got mugged on our honeymoon there. It is however a jewelry lover’s paradise so get off the cruise ship and shop. Actually many islands including St Lucia are known for their fine jewelry, especially emeralds. Although we didn’t like the Sandal’s we stayed in on St Lucia the island was gorgeous. We took a day tour to the Pitons, the twin mountain peaks that you see in every photo of St Lucia. Pigeon Island National Park, the volcano, the waterfalls, the beaches and gardens were lovely. Many people rode horses on the beaches. The water is superb so enjoy it anyway you can. Go to a banana plantation and enjoy the steel bands playing at night. Have you ever been to St. Lucia?”
